About Therapist Adam Freidfertig:

Hi I’m Adam Freidfertig! I am a licensed graduate professional counselor at Montgomery County Counseling Center in Rockville, MD. I am thrilled to be a part of the Montgomery County Counseling Center team in Rockville, MD. I strive to create a warm and collaborative relationship to support you in in attaining your goals and a life worth living. We are all unique individuals and I believe in supporting growth through developing new relationships with all parts of ourselves. Blending skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness with the new insights that you may gain, you can feel empowered to make changes in your relationship with yourself and others.

I believe the most important relationship we have is the one we have with ourselves.

Education and Experience as a Therapist

I received my bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Delaware in 2013. After graduating, I moved to Utah to work in a wilderness therapy program, working with adolescents and young adults. There I got to blend my passion for the outdoors and supporting growth in individuals. After 3 years, I decided to pursue a master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling at Johns Hopkins University. I have continued to work with adolescents and young adults in an intensive outpatient setting, providing DBT therapy.

I have completed the foundational training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and have received training in other modalities including CBT, Internal Family Systems and experiential therapy.

Personal Life

I am an avid outdoorsman and will take any opportunity to get into nature. Nature has been a powerful force in my life and connecting with nature has been invaluable for me. I spend my time with my husband and two dogs Hooper and Dexter. They are also avid hikers! When wanting to take things easy, I enjoy watching movies, playing board games with friends, reading, and listening to live music. I love travelling and take any opportunity to explore new cultures that I can.
