Montgomery County Counseling Center is dedicated to making therapy affordable to people whose access has been restricted due to centuries of systemic oppression. It is one of our upmost values to dismantle that cycle and provide reparations. Our work toward antiracism must be actionable. Therefore, MCCC is creating the BIPOC Therapy Fund; an imperfect but small step towards actionable allyship.
This fund will help cover therapy expenses for Black, Indigenous and other People of Color, without relying on insurance companies who perpetuate the broken system and underpay health care providers. We will use The BIPOC Therapy Fund to provide therapy services at MCCC for BIPOC clients in the Rockville, Gaithersburg, Bethesda, Silver Spring, and the greater DC metro area!
How it Works
- Founder Laura Goldstein will establish the BIPOC Therapy Fund through an initial contribution
- Five dollars ($5) from every MCCC therapy session will go towards the BIPOC Therapy Fund
- Money from this fund will be used to supplement therapy expenses for local BIPOC community members
- If you are interested in supporting this initiative, you can email Laura to get involved
Another way to support the cause
If you are looking for a more established organization to support this cause, The Loveland Foundation is a fantastic agency that funds therapy for Black women and girls!
