About Therapist Elsie Weinstein
Hi there, my name is Elsie Weinstein and I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) at Montgomery County Counseling Center.
The decision to commit to therapy is never easy and I am here to provide a safe, caring and non-judgmental environment for you to explore your strengths, challenges and core beliefs. I deeply respect each person who recognizes the need for support and takes that first step and welcome people of all backgrounds, identities and life experiences.
Therapeutic relationships succeed when founded on empathy, compassion and trust and my goal is to cultivate a warm, inclusive space where clients feel heard, understood and valued.
My therapy approach integrates humanistic and existential frameworks with behavioral techniques and traditional talk therapy methods, tailored to fit the needs and goals of each client. The humanistic perspective guides me to meet each client with unconditional positive regard and empathy, while existential thought encourages exploration of meaning and purpose. Behavioral methods provide tools to create lasting change and talk therapy gives space for self-reflection and growth.
I believe that each individual can blossom and grow with guidance and support and would consider it an honor to accompany you on your life’s journey.
Education and Therapy Experience
My graduate education includes two distinct Master’s degrees: Counseling and Thanatology, the interdisciplinary study of death, dying and bereavement – both from Hood College. My training in these areas allows me to meet each client’s needs with empathy, compassion and specialized knowledge.
I have vast experience supporting adults through grief, bereavement and challenging life transitions. Through psychoeducation, I help teens build the resilience needed to understand and care for their mental health. I also have extensive experience working with families and couples, supporting healthy communication and relationships. Recognizing the power of shared experience and collective wisdom, I have conducted group therapy for women who have received a diagnosis of breast cancer as well as a support group for pet loss.

Personal Life
At the moment, I have three fur babies — two adult cats and one kitten. I love spending quality time with friends and family and enjoy reading, knitting, photography and traveling.

Born in Florida, I’ve called Atlanta, GA; Richmond, VA; Knoxville, TN; Morristown, NJ, New York City, and Corfu Greece – all home at some point. I consider myself fortunate to have met individuals from different cultural backgrounds, each enriching my perspective with their unique traditions, values, and worldviews distinct from my own – a type of education that transcends the confines of a traditional classroom.
Through these experiences, I found common threads that bind us all: we want to live with purpose, understand ourselves, be heard and connect deeply with others. This understanding is my motivation and goal to help those in need.
