Laura Goldstein, LCMFT, is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist in Rockville MD and owner of Montgomery County Counseling Center, LLC. As an MFT, Laura believes that social environment strongly impacts an individual’s experience and is therefore an integral part of an individual’s solutions, whether or not the entire system is in the therapy room. Laura uses a non-judgmental client-focused approach to assess emotional and behavioral patterns, coaching clients towards greater effectiveness in their relationships and/or other personal goals.

Laura obtained her Bachelors degree in Neuroscience from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. She then went on to earn her Masters degree in Family Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. While in Philly, Laura completed her training at the Council for Relationships. Since that time, Laura has worked across multiple settings, including in-home behavioral health services, adolescent substance use intensive outpatient programs, and programs helping families with young adults struggling to launch. Laura is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.

In 2015, Laura became intensively trained in the modality of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Using this approach, Laura helps clients balance acceptance and change by building skills in areas of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Laura weaves this approach into therapeutic work with all clients, but for clients specifically seeking DBT treatment, Laura can create a therapeutic program of intensive skills training and DBT individual therapy. Please see DBT services for more information.

In 2017, Laura opened Montgomery County Counseling Center, LLC in Rockville MD, in order to serve families in the area seeking compassionate and skilled therapeutic services and has been growing the team of systemically and behaviorally minded therapist ever since. She also provides trainings and consultations for other professionals. Please inquire for more information about training and educational opportunities.
